The Obituary
On Friday, March 27, 2026, at the home of his son, Travis, in Walterboro, South Carolina, surrounded by family who showered him with love and care. God strolled through His flower garden, selecting those to bring home. He encountered an “incomparable gem” who held deep significance for his family, friends, church, and community. God likely said to him, “Randy, my dear child, you have fulfilled your purpose in serving others, and now it is time to rest. Your earthly journey is complete. You have been a faithful servant, and I welcome you into my joy.”
William Randolph Johnson, lovingly known as “Randy,” was born in Colleton County on November 7, 1965, to the late Clarence and Sallie Johnson.
He was a devoted member of St. John AME Church in Cottageville, South Carolina. Randy, on February 20, 1976, was married to Cynthia Brock of Cottageville, South Carolina. He later married his beloved wife, Crystal (O’Yannah) Moultrie, on August 18, 2006, and he moved to Adams Run, South Carolina. Randy transferred his church membership to Grace Chapel Baptist Church. At Grace Chapel, he participated actively, singing in the choir and assisting the usher board until his health began to decline.
Randy completed his education in the public schools of Colleton County, graduating from Walterboro High School in 1973. He embarked on a distinguished career in the concrete industry, earning respect as a shop foreman and positively influencing many colleagues, even after his retirement in April 2024. In 2020, he proudly launched a side business with his sons, called “Johnson and Sons Concrete Finishers.” A passionate softball enthusiast, Randy skillfully led his team to success and cherished the relationships he built throughout his life. Additionally, he had a knack for mechanical work, often found changing oil, spark plugs, and brake pads, particularly alongside Mr. Pete at his shop.
Randy embodied unwavering determination, holding steadfastly to his faith despite facing tremendous challenges. When confronted with the profound question of resuscitation, he would say, “If my name is called, I will answer. It’s my time to go.”
He was preceded in death by his parents; his cherished wife, Crystal Johnson; two grandsons, Nyheim Gadsden and Keiontay Johnson; four siblings, Letha Bryant, Donald Johnson, Ernest Johnson and Agnes Johnson and beloved sister-in-law, Annie Johnson.
He leaves behind cherished memories with his children, Cynthia Johnson of Cottageville, SC; Travis Johnson (Denise) of Walterboro, SC; Keion Johnson (Lakeisha) of Green Pond, SC; Montai Johnson; Chelsea Swinton; and Joshua Milligan, all of Adams Run, SC. He is also survived by one God-Son, Kyren Reese of North Charleston, SC, and one God-Daughter, Iyannah Bre’Jae Varner of Columbia, SC.
