Virginia Williams, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, at the age of 80 in Trident Hospital. She was born on February 1, 1945, to the late Richard and Edna Rhone. Virginia lived a life full of love, strength, and grace. Known throughout her community as a serious card player, she brought laughter, wisdom, and warmth to everyone who knew her.
She was a devoted mother to her two sons,Eugene Williams and John Lee Williams, whom she loved deeply and considered her greatest achievements in life. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of her only grandchild, Carlesa Endyah Williams. Virginia also played a special role in raising her nephew, Anthony “Tony” Rhone,who held a very special place in her heart.
Virginia is lovingly remembered by her two siblings: Dorichy Elizabeth “Tissie” Williams of Walterboro, South Carolina, and Stonewall Jackson of Hackensack, New Jersey. She will also be fondly remembered by her dear friends, Mary Kroger and Shirley Ann Wiggins, whose friendship meant so much to her over the years.
She leaves behind her former husband, Eugene “Gene” Williams, Sr., and a lifelong companion and friend, Willie “Bobby” Glover, both of whom shared meaningful parts of her life’s journey. Virginia is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends—each of whom she shared a special bond with. Her home was always filled with love, laughter, and open arms.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Margret McQune, Richard “Bubba” Rhone Jr., Lawrence Rhone, Wilkey Rhone, Peachie Rhone, Pencilee White, Esmond M. Miller, Jimmy “Sonny” Rhone, Shirley Ann “Ag” Rhone,and George Rhone.
Virginia’s life was a true testament to love, strength, and rock-solid perseverance. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory continue to be a lasting blessing.
