Sister Virginia Geddis Farmer was born on January 22, 1934, to the late Bertha Geddis in Dorchester County, South Carolina. She transitioned peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on January 13, 2026.
She received her education in the Dorchester County School System. After completing her education, she worked as a domestic worker and provided childcare for the Ewing Family.
Virginia accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a faithful member of Sandhill United Methodist Church.
On December 23, 1961, Virginia was united in holy matrimony to the late Charles Edward Farmer. From this loving union, three children were born.
After her marriage, Virginia became a member of St. John AME Church, where she served faithfully as a missionary and stewardess for many years. She also served as President of Stewardess Board #1 and willingly served in any capacity where she was needed.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Farmer, and her loving nephew, James “Pookie” Morris.
Precious memories will be cherished by her loving children: Katherine (Anthony) Donaldson of Jacksonville, Florida; Theresa Farmer of Cottageville, South Carolina; and Charles G. Farmer of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her legacy also lives on through her grandchildren: Javarie Farmer of Covington, Georgia; Cadet Charles E. Farmer of Boca Raton, Florida; and Tarrell Farmer and Christina Farmer of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Great grandchildren: Javarie “JD” Farmer and Journee Farmer of Covington, Georgia.
She is also survived by her sisters-in-law: Katherine Hyde of Aberdeen, North Carolina; Lula Farmer and Jean (Robert) Cunningham of Walterboro, South Carolina; and Linda Farmer of Jacksonville, Florida; and one devoted brother-in-law, Harris Farmer of Cottageville, South Carolina. And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
