Tyrone Adams, beloved son of Oriease Adams, was born on September 16, 1942, on Indian Creek Drive in Colleton County, South Carolina. He peacefully transitioned to his heavenly rest on November 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of a life well lived.
Tyrone was raised in a close and caring community that shaped the man he would become. From an early age, he learned the importance of honesty, hard work, faith, and giving back. Those values became the foundation of his life—especially after the heartbreaking loss of his mother at just 21 years old, when he courageously stepped into the role of head of the household to care for his family.
A proud graduate of Ruffin High School, Tyrone went on to pursue higher education with the encouragement of his younger siblings and the support of his extended family. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Education from Morris College in 1965 and later fulfilled another goal by earning his Master’s degree in Education from South Carolina State University in 1985.
Education was more than a career for Tyrone—it was his calling. He began teaching at Finklea High School in Finklea, South Carolina, and over the years, he touched countless lives while teaching Math, Science, and Special Education at Loris High School, Ritter Middle School, and Walterboro Middle School. His students remember him not only for what he taught in the classroom, but for the patience, encouragement, and belief he poured into them.
Tyrone was a devoted member of Deep Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Islandton, South Carolina, and a pillar of the Indian Creek community until his health began to decline. His gentle spirit, steady generosity, and quiet service made a lasting difference in the lives of many. He had a heart for helping others and never hesitated to give when someone was in need.
Tyrone leaves to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy: his son, Gregory (Felica) Adams of Raleigh, North Carolina; his brother, Paul Marvin (Sadie) Adams of Ruffin, South Carolina (Indian Creek); his sisters, Leola Adams of Orangeburg, South Carolina, Vonzola “Bonnie” Adams of Roselle, New Jersey, and Dolorie Adams of Orangeburg, South Carolina; his beloved grandson, Gregory Adams II; along with a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
Though he may be gone from our sight, Tyrone Adams will forever remain in our hearts. His life was a testament to faith, family, service, and love—and his legacy will continue through all who were blessed to know him.
