Shirley Ann Laverne Bomar, beloved daughter of the late Maybelle and Mack Holmes, was born on February 17, 1954, in Green Pond, South Carolina. She took her eternal rest on May 27, 2025, after a battle with multiple illnesses.
Shirley met and married Andrew Bomar II. Out of this union came three children: Gemma Kecia Perez, Teneka Bomar and Angie Applegate. She remained in South Carolina throughout her life.
She worked for the South Carolina Department of Social Services for many years caring for our elderly community. She took early retirement to become her husband's caretaker. After his passing, she became self-employed and continued serving our elderly. She enjoyed caring for her plants both indoors and out. Shirley enjoyed cooking and baking for all and everything that her hands touched was top notch! She brought joy and laughter everywhere she went and was very outspoken. She was vivacious, full of life and strong up until the very end of her journey.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters: Gemma Perez(Carlos), Teneka Bomar (Floyd Williams) and Angie Applegate (Shelby); her siblings, Roosevelt Holmes, Lucille Finley, Eva Mae Wilson, Joe Holmes, Bessie Ferrell and Francis Holmes (who all preceded her in death), Robert Holmes (Ann), George Holmes (Jennifer), Sherman Holmes, Catherine Brown, Justine Simmon (Ray), and Ruthie Reynolds (Lionel); 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family and friends.
