Samuel Joseph Wilson, affectionately known as Sammy Joe, completed his earthly journey when God dispatched His angel on Sunday, May 11, 2025, to bring him to his eternal home. He was born on March 21, 1980, in Cottageville, South Carolina, to Annie Frances Wilson and the late Sam Burley North, Jr.
Samuel was educated in the Colleton County School System. He was a man of faith and worshiped at Inspirational Tabernacle Church of Praise under the leadership of his mother-in-law, the late Marilyn Cox.
In his early years, Sammy found meaningful work and fulfillment as a cement layman with Haynes Construction Company, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.
Sammy Joe is lovingly remembered by his wife, Theresa Cox; his cherished mother, Annie Frances Wilson; and his beloved children: Samahje, Sage, and Trinity. He also leaves behind six adored grandchildren: Destiny, Major, Jaziah, Jahkayah, Ariyah, and Giovanni.
He is further survived by two aunts, Barbara Walker and Thelma Mack; one uncle, Abraham North; sisters-in-law, Nekesha, Latrell, and Gabriella Cox; brothers-in-law, Charles Henry Brown, Lamante Cox, and Clinton Glover; one niece, Shadonna Brown; one nephew, Charles Lance Brown; and a host of cousins, extended family, and dear friends who will miss him dearly.
Samuel’s legacy of love, faith, and resilience will live on in all who knew him.
