Peter Ferguson, Jr.

Peter Ferguson, Jr. affectionately known as “Peter Rabbit” was born to the late Peter Ferguson, Sr. and Mary Brown Thomas on September 16, 1950. He departed this earthly life on Saturday, July 11, 2026.      

Peter attended Colleton County Schools located in Walterboro, South Carolina.  He attended Mt. Nebo Baptist Church for a short period of time.  In his early 20’s Peter relocated to Bronx, New York.  While in New York, he started his career as a master plumber.  In later years, Peter returned to his hometown, where he shared his love for family, fishing, cooking and dancing.

“Peter Rabbit” was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mary Thomas; father, Peter Ferguson, Sr.; sister, Delores Ferguson; niece, Jacquline Brown; grandniece, Nahlia Ferguson and grandnephew, Jayden Windom. Though their loss weighed heavily on his heart, he carried their memories with him throughout his life and is now reunited with them in eternal peace.

Peter leaves behind five loving sisters, Ruthie Mae Ferguson and Isabella Miller both of Paterson, NJ; Henrietta Stephens and Barbara Washington(Jonathan) both of Walterboro, SC and Alenthia Miller of Atlanta, GA; a special person Shirley Ann Hampleton who cared for him and took on the title “Daughter” since the age of twelve; two special nieces, Ashia and Ashley Stephens of Walterboro, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him.

His legacy of love, strength and devotion will continue to lie on through those who knew and loved him.  Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in knowing that Peter’s journey continues in the presence of the Lord, reunited with those who went before him.  His memory will remain a source of love, inspiration, and comfort for generations to come.
