Reflection of Life
Pearl Deloris Hudson Holmes was born on April 23, 1944, in Cottageville, SC to the late Ransom and Lill Hudson. She graduated from the public schools in Colleton County. After graduating Pearl joined the workforce where she worked for 30 years in the Colleton County School District.
At an early age Pearl gave her life to the Lord and joined Jericho United Methodist Church. Pearl was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, the late Franklin Holmes.
Known to many in the community as “Mama”, she would make sure you were fed if you stepped foot in her yard. She is remembered for her selfless acts of kindness and spending time with her family on Sunday’s underneath the tree.
Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, Ransom and Lill Hudson; loving husband, Frank Holmes; son, Lil Frankie Holmes; grandsons, Kirsh Holmes, Harry Green Jr., Albert Yates, and Tavian Holmes; granddaughter, Dominique Holmes; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Rebecca Hampleton, Von Lee Holmes, Louis Holmes, Minnie Holmes, Mary June Holmes, Kathleen and Clyde Brock, and Sinclair Edwards; nieces, Janie Diane Brock and Catherine Burney and nephews Vincent Edwards Sr., Thomas Hampleton, and Johnny Ray Holmes.
Pearl leaves to cherish her memories ten children; Sylvia (Reginald) McNeil, Sr. of Walterboro, SC, Cindy Ann (Harry) Green Sr. of Walterboro, SC, Albert (Debbie) Holmes of Ridgeville, SC, Vicky Lynn Jennings of Walterboro, SC, William (Sonya) Holmes of Cottageville, SC, Carroll (Jacqueline) Holmes of Summerville, SC, Greg (Latrina) Holmes of Cottageville, SC, Tony Holmes Sr. of Walterboro, SC, Jackie (John) Givens of Walterboro, SC, and Michael (Manekia) Holmes of Walterboro, SC. Pearl leaves to embrace her legacy her thirty-two grandchildren, forty-five great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Pearl also leaves to cherish her memories one sister Beverly Edwards of Cottageville, SC; one brother and a sister-in-law Leroy (Betty) Hudson of Walterboro, SC; A special sons in love Troy Simmons of Walterboro, SC and Antonio K. Lee of Orangeburg, SC; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other friends.
A special message to Michael Haynes, “don’t you ever forget what I told you on that Saturday when you wanted to race your car and I told you to go home to your wife and kids” …Pearl!
