Pastor Marilyn Cox, daughter of the late James “Buster” Thomas and the late Mother Louise Glover
Smart was born on February 21,1955 in Colleton County. She was educated in the public schools and
graduated from Colleton County High School. She worked and retired from the Colleton County School
System.
On October 16, 1972, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to Willie Earl Cox for 42 years and to this union
6 children were born. Pastor Cox received the Lord as her personal savior at an early age and was a
faithful member of Greater St. Jude Deliverance Church. Upon recognizing and acknowledging the call
of God upon her life, she attended and completed ministry training at The Holy Spirit School of Ministry,
On November 16, 2000, she was licensed and ordained as Pastor and Founder of Inspirational
Tabernacle of Praise. She fulfilled her ministry faithfully until her health began to fail.
Pastor Cox traded her earthly body for her mansion in the sky in the early morning hours on Monday,
November 28, 2022, at Trident Medical Center North Charleston, SC surrounded by her children,
grandchildren and other relatives.
Preceding her in death her late husband Elder Willie Earl Cox, her mother Mother Louise Glover Smart,
her father James “Buster” Thomas, her stepfather Deacon Ralph Smart, one brother Lee Ronnie Glover
and her granddaughter Little Miss Syria Cox-Gadson.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her children:
Clinton Glover of Lynnwood, WA; NaKesha Cox of Walterboro SC; William Lamonte (Shana) Cox of
Summerville, SC; Theresa Cox of Atlanta, GA; Quintina Cox and Gabrielle Cox both of Summerville, SC.
Two children reared in the home LaQresha Anstead of Raleigh, NC and Derrick Glover.
brothers, Rev. Albert (Yvonne) Smoaks of Smoaks, SC; Willie James Glover of Walterboro, SC; Dean
(Pamela) Glover of Hinesville, GA; and Deacon David (Gloria) Glover of Walterboro, SC; sisters, Pastor Cordelia
(Bishop Jerome) Jones of Walterboro, SC; Andrea (Lester) Johnson of Aiken, SC; and Regina Smart of
Cottageville, SC. Five sisters-in-law Hazel Brunson, Roberta (Edgar) Garrett, Mary Bell (Hebert) Brown,
Lucille (Nathaniel) Burgess, Theresa Robinson all of Walterboro, SC. Three brothers-in-law John Cox,
Henry (Marsha) Cox and George (Mary) Cox all of Walterboro, SC. She also leaves to cherish her
memories 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, family
and friends.
