Mr. Nathan Gillison, Sr., son of the late Cornies and Annie Mae Gillison, was born May 6,1933 in Georgia. On Friday, December 20, 2024, around 9:00 a.m. God gently called him from labor to reward at the Colleton Medical Center.
Nathan date of Civilian Employment in the US Army was from 1950 to April 9, 1953, as a tractor driver. He was employed in carpentry in Hilton Head, SC and was known as one of the best carpenters around.
Nathan was united in matrimony to the late Mary Bell Chisolm on June 28, 1956.
He was affectionately known as “Snook.” He was a hard worker and did not like to be helped. His life was an inspiration to all who knew and loved him. Snook never met a stranger.
Preceding him in death are his wife, Mary Bell C. Gillison, Children Connie Smalls, Edward, Billy, and Larry Gillison, Darryl Gillison and Bernard Grayson.
Always to remember him, he leaves his children, Margaret Jenkins of Seabrook, SC, Annie (Bernard) Daise of St, Helena Island, SC, Nathan (Angie) Gillison, Jr. of Walterboro, SC, Bernard Richardson of PA and Dorian Allen of Grays Hill, SC; 17 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; son-in-law, Jerome Smalls; sister-in-law, Mosezell Chisolm and Kathy Zackery; step-siblings, (The Black Family) and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and caring friends especially Rebecca Middleton, the entire Middleton Family, the Ritter Community, the St. Paul Church Family, Cora Shuler whom he called a daughter and a daughter/doctor, Angie Gillison.
