Nancy Williams Obituary

Nancy Maria Williams, the daughter of the late Maggie C. Pinckney and the late Wardy “Jackie”
Weans, was born on April 4, 1967, in Walterboro, SC, and peacefully transitioned on February
22, 2025.


Nancy attended Walterboro High School before earning an Associate of Science from the
University of South Carolina, a Bachelor of Science with a focus in Accounting and Business
Management from Limestone University, and later a Master of Business Administration from
Webster University.


Nancy’s career in accounting reflected her dedication and expertise. She served as a Staff
Accountant with the Urban League of Charlotte, NC, where she played a vital role in financial
management and community-driven initiatives until she was no longer able to work.
Beyond her professional achievements, she loved deeply, spoke her mind honestly, and always
stood up for those she cared about. Her laughter was contagious, her sense of humor light, and
her love boundless. Faith was a cornerstone of Nancy’s life. She was a devoted member of Mt.
Zion AME Church, where she served in many capacities, including as an usher, choir member
and finance committee member. Her service reflected her unwavering faith.


With a vibrant spirit, a sharp sense of style, and a heart full of love, Nancy lived life boldly and
beautifully, leaving behind a legacy of strength, authenticity, honesty, and elegance that will be
cherished forever in the hearts of those she touched.


Nancy Maria Williams is survived by her dedicated and loving husband of 25 years, Israel
Williams; one daughter, Lakia J. Grant “LJ,” who was the love of her life; bonus children:
Shantrell Stewart (Vernon) and Israel L. Williams “Tattoo”; bonus grandchildren: Da’Neasha
Manigo, Ahmir, Kay’Saun, Deondre, and Brookelynn Stewart; siblings: Jennifer Pinckney of
SC, Jaronald Pinckney (Atiya) of GA, Margie Pizarro of SC, Monique Bowman of VA, Harry
Kenyatta Weans, Jamela Weans, Kareemah Woodard, Jamal Weans of MD, and Adrian Weans of
SC; nieces/nephews: Devona Generette, Paris Simmons (Ontario “Jay”), Montel Generette, Shari
Pinckney, Ciara Pinckney, Robert Grant Jr., Amaro Pizarro, Marino Pizarro, Alexis Pizarro,
Kenyattah Ramsey, Harrison Weans, Dwight Weans, and Kareem Weans; and one aunt, Lubertha
Pinckney of NY.


Her Tater Tots (great nieces/nephews): Cairo and Kali Simmons and Dia and Devon Williams.
Affectionately dear cousins: Stacy Generette, Angela Griffin, Mortie “Lee” Griffin, Frederick
Griffin, and Albert Griffin, along with a host of other cousins, family members, and close
friends.
