Ms. Shaniqua Fishburne, daughter of the late Fred Gibbs & Nettie Fishburne Miller, was born, December 22, 1980, in Walterboro, South Carolina. Receiving her education in the public schools, Shaniqua was a proud member of the Walterboro High School graduating class of 1999. After receiving her diploma, Shaniqua furthered her education at South Carolina State University of Orangeburg, South Carolina; Trident Technical College and ECPI, both of Charleston, South Carolina; and Piedmont Technical College of Greenwood, South Carolina. She was formerly employed with the Allendale Correctional Department. Most recently she became employed as a receptionist and attendant with Koger’s Mortuary.
Affectionately known as “Nekie” by her loving family, she was a bottle of joy and laughter. Her family and a few close friends were her love and fulfillment. Along with her family and spoiling her nieces and nephews, she also took to and care of her nephew, Zi’yon Bomar, as her own son. She loved shopping, crabbing, baking, making crafts, and along with all of that, not to mention the occasional “trash talking.”
During the evening hours of Saturday: April 15, 2023; Shaniqua traded her time on earth for an eternity with her Savior and Redeemer. Along with her parents, she is also preceded in death by, grandmother who raised her, Betsy Fishburne: brothers, Johnny Johnson and Fred Gibbs, Jr.: a cousin Little Big Brother” Timothy “T.T.” Behling: and one niece, Imajea Holmes.
Left on this side to embrace the portraits of her life are: father, Diral Miller of the home: sisters, Monica (Sinclair) Holmes, Glennie (Rydell) Bligen, Jennifer Gibbs, Carolyn Jefferson and Carla (Henry) Jenkins: aunts, Ethel Gibbs and Eva Fishburne: uncles, Alexander (Edna) Wright and Reverend Nathaniel (Lynn Ann) Fishburne: Two special nieces and three nephews reared in the home, Brittany, Tearra, Quan, JJ and Kavon: two loving god-children, Ty’Heim Behling and Jamiah Lawton: along with a host of numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
