Ms. Ruth Ann Williams, daughter of the late Elvira and Ned Williams, Sr.; was born May 23, 1944, in Walterboro, SC. She was educated in the Colleton County School System. She departed this earthly world on March 17, 2023. She was preceded in death by her siblings; Ned Williams, Jr., Nathan Williams, E.J. Williams, Van Leroy Williams and one sister, Loretta Williams Whaley. She was a nurse in New Jersey for over 20 years, until 1993, when she decided to relocate back home to Ritter, SC, to be close to her aging mother. She continued to work in healthcare after relocating, and did not stop, even after being diagnosed with cancer and while undergoing chemo treatments. She was a hard worker and enjoyed caring for others.
She was a faithful member of Cumberland United Methodist Church of Ritter, whereby, she served in several capacities and sang in the choir. She loved to sing, cook, read (especially the bible), solve crossword puzzles and enjoyed a good yard sale. Her family members could not leave her house without being fed or without her trying to give them something to take, whether food or one of her good yard sale findings. She was truly one of a kind. Had a very strong, animated and expressive personality, full of wit and charm. She loved everyone and never met a stranger. She would say from time to time “I’m glad I’m on the way out of here, people are going crazy” – meaning the uncertainty of the world and that she was no longer young, to have to deal with the unpredictable future. She lived a simple, happy life, did not like taking pictures and was grateful for all that she had. All the kindness bestowed upon her from her wonderful friends, neighbors, church family and everyone. She left a mark in our hearts and will be missed by all who knew her. She was a very, very special aunt, whom we all could go to for the best advice. Her words of wisdom have brought us peace and will carry us on. She would always tell us “Trust God, He is all that you need”. She would also say “Pray about it and give it time, time changes all things.” Gone, but will never be forgotten!
