Ms. Putronia Ann Pinckney, daughter of the late Roycie & Annie Lawton, Sr.; was born April 18, 1951, in rural Colleton County. At an early age, she was educated in the public school system, graduating from Colleton High School in 1970. As she became an adult, she entered the workforce.
Putronia began on a lifelong career path as a Master Seamstress & Tailor; being employed with various garment factories. She possessed a creative method of making alterations or even coming up with patterns or designs of her own, to get the job done. As she continued in the field, she became employed with Marine Corps Community Services in Beaufort, SC, until her retirement in 2011. She continued for many years of being of service to numerous families and friends.
In 1978, Putronia was joined in Matrimony to the late Mr. Wesley Pinckney, and this former union would be blessed with four wonderful children. She was a provider, a hard worker, and committed to her family. Even at an early age, she nurtured her younger siblings, until obtaining a family of her own. Putronia was a strong dependable woman. Not only was she there to help family and friends, but she would also make it a point to give her last, to ensure that every and anyone had what they needed. Because of this, she became the “Mother” of her community.
Affectionately known to all as, “Peggy”; Putronia loved God and worshipped Him throughout her lifetime. She was a former member of the Cumberland United Methodist Church. As time brought about changes, she became a member of the Walterboro Church of Christ, until her health began to decline.
Ultimately, on Thursday: March 22, 2022; while in the McLeod Hospice House of Florence, South Carolina; our dear Peggy, traded time for eternity. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by, siblings: Willie and Albert Lawton and Jeanette Jamison. As one of her favorite sayings, “Give it to the Lord.” We thank God for blessing us with this angel of life. We will always remember her reciting Psalms 23 in ALL situations and her comical “I love you,” in a good or bad situation.
Left to embrace the portraits of her life are Children, Thomas W. Pinckney (Dwaina); Catina Breland, Scott Pinckney (Melody) and Corey Pinckney: Grandchildren; Juwan, Joie, Jonathan, Tamyra, Skyi and Scott, Jr.: Siblings; Carrie Harris (Lenny), Ronald Lawton (Darlene), Sherry Campbell (Michael), Linda McDaniel (David), Annie Haynes (Desi), Thomas Lawton and Roycie Lawton, Jr. (Annie): along with a host of numerous other relatives and friends.
