Respectfully, we honor the legacy of the life of Ms. Mazalene A. Gant. Affectionately known as "Maz", she was a native of Jacksonboro, South Carolina.
Mazalene A. Gant was born on December 27, 1937 in Jacksonboro, SC. Mazalene is a graduate of Colleton Training School, Walterboro, SC and a graduate of Savannah State University, Savannah, GA. After completing college she moved to Connecticut where she was employed part-time at G.Fox & Co. & Travelers Insurance Co.; she retired from the State of Connecticut Department of Health. She was a long time resident of Bloomfield, CT and moved back to SC after her retirement to care for her brother. Mazalene was known for retaining to memory the birthdays of all of her family and friends. She would always ensure to get birthday cards in the mail to arrive well in advance of birthdays.
On January 8, 2020 at Roper Hospital in Charleston, SC, Mazalene entered into eternal rest. She was preceded in death by parents Henry & Ester Gant and siblings,Eva Mitchell, Melvin Gant, Lillie Lincoln, Ben Gant and Wilmer Gant.
She leaves to cherish her memory: a devoted niece/daughter Birdie Cody (Eddie), sister-in-law Janie Gant, nephews Benjamin Mitchell (Vennie), Ellis Lincoln Sr., Bennie Gant, Anthony Gant, Curtis Mitchell, Edward Holmes, Roman Mitchell, Wilmer Mitchell and Tyrone Mitchell, nieces Margaret Mitchell, Shiryl Aiken, Delores Smalls, Hazel Mixon (James), Verdell Gant. Vernester Holmes, Donna Mitchell, Odessa Mitchell. Grandnieces/Granddaughters Rochelle McCauley, Yolanda Upshaw (Tom), Anjoli Cody; and a host of relatives and dear friends.
