Obituary

Ms. Margie Grant, a devoted Woman of God, went to eternal rest on the Lord’s Day on February 12, 2023.

Ms. Margie attended Saint James Catholic School with her siblings and continued her education in the Colleton County school system.  In her twenties, she relocated to New York.

Ms. Margie, one of nine children, was always family connected. She and several siblings resided within a block radius at Hamilton Place in Manhattan. Here Ms. Margie began her community service as a member of an Eastern Star's local chapter.  Those friendships and travel experiences with the chapter enriched her life.

As the case with all GRANT girls, Ms. Margie was a true lady; always fashionably dressed, hair and nails done, smiling, and sharing. Her crocheting for past time became a business where she made blankets, doll clothes etc. During her later years of employment at Medland in NJ, Margie purchased her co-op in Inwood Gardens (near family again).  She served at Fort Collegiate Church in Washington Heights where she is still remembered.

Completing twenty-five plus years of service, Ms. Margie retired from Medland and from New York City. She acquired land and purchased a home back in Walterboro, SC.  W.O.R.D Ministries in Summerville, SC became her church HOME and she served on two ministries; Evangelism and Ministry of Help.

Over time, Ms. Margie’s health was challenged and through many trials had to be placed in Assisted Living. Ms. Margie later resided with Ms.Gooding, a long-time friend, for a short period of time. Although this Woman of GOD experienced some valleys, Ms. Margie NEVER complained; instead, she gave GOD thanks in and through it all.

Margie's Legacy consists of her son Joseph Grant his wife, Janice(Charlotte, NC); three grandchildren, Sheron (Allentown, PA), Jasmine and Jared (Charlotte, NC) and two great-grandchildren.  Also cherishing her memories are three sisters, Eliza Lisbon (Walterboro, SC), Vera Grant(New York, NY), Margaret Lewis (Walterboro, SC), one brother, Anthony Grant (Walterboro, SC); and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends
