Lois Annette Richardson was born on Thursday, March 24, 1949, in Walterboro, SC, and departed her earthly home on Monday, October 24, 2022, at 73 years old. She graduated from Colleton High School, class of 1966, and later furthered her education at South Carolina State University, graduating in 2003 with her Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences degree.
Lois began working in Manhattan, NY as a medical receptionist. Upon her return to Walterboro, she was employed through LCAA Headstart as a preschool teacher, and retired after 28 years of service. She ventured into various jobs after retirement, but returned to her love of teaching, re-entering the educational system as a substitute teacher. Lois was a faithful and devoted member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Walterboro for over 50 years, and a part of the usher board for over 40 years. She participated in many church activities, including Vacation Bible School. She read her bible, prayed, and was a loyal servant of the Lord.
Lois was an initial member of the distinguished Sunshine Chapter #389 Order of the Eastern Star, Rite of Adoption for the State of South Carolina and Jurisdiction for 23 years, where she held the position of treasurer. She cherished her time with her O.E.S. family. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, Walterboro Chapter, Sisters of Color since May 2013. Lois thought of these women as sisters and took pride in working in her community. Her greatest joy was being with her siblings, daughter, grandson and family, especially the babies. She loved convening with friends, having breakfasts with her graduating class of 1966, and helping anyone in need.
