Ms. Janie Mack Obituary

Respectfully, we honor the life of Ms. Janie M. Mack. Janie M. Mack entered eternal rest on December 14, 2019, at Sprenger Health Care in Port Royal, SC. She was born on July 2, 1941 in White Hall, SC to the late Mr. Willie Mack and Mrs. Lucile Garrett Mack. Janie grew up in White Hall, SC; attended public school in Colleton County and graduated from Colleton County High School in Walterboro, S.C. in 196l. Subsequently, she left SC and moved to New York in pursuit of better job opportunities. She found work at Interior Decorators; obtained her certification in nursing. While attending nursing school, she worked as a volunteer at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx, NY to get on the job training, and eventually landed a permanent position as a Nurses Aide with 25 years of sustained and substantial service.
Janie joined Macedonia Baptist Church while living in New York City and served diligently as a member of the Stewardess Board. After retiring from Lincoln Hospital in 2011, she moved back to White Hall, SC; joined Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church, and served faithfully on the Stewardess Board, supporting other ministries as well, before her health declined. Janie will always be remembered for her candied yams, sweet potato pie, that side eye, straight talk, always speaking her mind; witty, selfless, supportive and always going the extra mile.
She leaves these memories to be cherished by: one son, Carl Eric Mack of White Hall, SC; four sisters, Mrs. Ethel M. Swinton (Thomas) of Charleston, S.C; Ms. Willie M. Lewis of Brunswick, GA; Elnora Mack of Stone Mountain, GA; Kathy L. Mack of Port Royal, SC; three brothers, Ronnie L. Mack of the Bronx, NY; Fredrick Mack (Angie) of White Hall, SC; Anthony Mack (Jerri) of Bloomingdale, GA; one granddaughter, Chederis Kinnery of White Hall, SC; two great grands, Romell Middleton and Kejon Lemon; two great nieces near and dear to her heart, Makayla Woods and Emmani Mazo; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
