With sorrowful hearts we announce the Celebration of Life for Gloria Ann Green, 75, of Ruffin, South Carolina. As her parting leaves a void; may she be remembered with joy and peace.
Mother Gloria Ann Green, affectionately known as “Buddy
and “GiGi,” was born November 27, 1947, in Colleton County to the
late Edgar Green and Elise Robison Green. She was seven of eleven
children. She was preceded in death by a brother, Peter “Peaches” Green; a great nephew, Terrance Esaw; a brother, Bill William Truman Green; and a sister, Estelle “Tet” Goodwin. A brother, Lawrence
Green. A brother, William “Chubby” Green. A sister, Edna Green. A
sister, Madge “Virginia” Mingo. A brother, Edgar Green Jr.; A sister,
Barbra Ann Goff. A nephew, Melvin Mingo, a niece, Kenyell “Punkin”
Green, and a nephew, Joe Nathan Mingo.
She was educated in the public schools of Colleton County. She
graduated from Ruffin High School in 1967. Upon graduating, she
worked as a school Bus Driver for many years. She eventually started
her own cleaning business, serving many families in the Colleton County
area. She served in this capacity until her health began to fail her.
Gloria gave her life to Christ at an early age. She joined the Holiness
House of Refuge in Smoaks, SC, where she served for many years.
She eventually joined Bright and Early Morning Star in Yemassee,
SC, serving for many years. She founded her forever house of worship
at Pillar of Truth, Ruffin, SC, under the leadership of Pastor Mary
Howard. She served as an usher and was the mother of the church.
Mother Gloria enjoyed sewing, fishing, planting flowers, gardening,
outdoor activities, coloring, puzzles, crafts, and her family. She doated
over her granddaughter, Deja, and her two great-granddaughters, Rhylei
and Railyn. Her last entry in her prayer journal was a special prayer
dated October 21, 2023, to her great-granddaughters, “Railyn and Rhylei,
keep them safe and remember “Gigi” and I plead the blood of Jesus over
both of them.” Gloria was loved by many and will be missed by all.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Cheryl Green of
Ruffin, SC. Her granddaughter Deja Alene Elise Thomas (Romauri)
Edwards, of Ruffin, SC, two great-granddaughters Rhylei and Railyn
Edwards, Ruffin, SC, a sister Christine (Wally) Fowler, Brooklyn,
NY, two special nieces Vernice “Tunkey” Wilson, Bamberg, SC, and
Brenda Gail Green, Ruffin, SC, a special great-niece Rev. Lisa M.
(Stacey) Way, a great-nephew Chris (Cortriece) Green, Atlanta, GA,
a special great-niece Erica Chevon Green-Holmes, Smoaks, SC, a
special great-nephew Nicholas Green, Ruffin, SC, two sister-in-laws
Christine Green, Lodge, SC, Ernestine Green, Branchville, SC and a
host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, friends, and a special friend
Sister Josephine Boatwright.
