Elizabeth Behling Wallace, daughter of the late Willie Behling and Fairy Lawton Behling, was born on September 26, 1946, in Colleton County, SC. She departed this life on September 30, 2022, in Orangeburg, SC.
She attended Ruffin High School in Ruffin, SC. She later moved to Brooklyn, NY, where she spent most of her young adult life. She worked as a supervisor at a sewing manufacturing company while living in Brooklyn. She also worked many years as a nurse’s aide upon returning to South Carolina.
Elizabeth joined Evergreen Baptist Church and later joined Act of Faith Ministries where she sang on the choir. She lovedplanting flowers, working in her yard, and spending time with her daughter and grandchildren. She also loved to travel when her health would permit.
Preceding her in death along with her parents are siblings, Harry Behling, Willie Behling, Jr., and Hattie Carter, sister-in-law, Julia Behling, and brother-in-law Jake Carter.
Left to cherish her loving memories are a loving and devoted daughter, Danielle Thomas of Orangeburg, SC; son, Jimmy Behling of Pelion, SC; five grandchildren, Erin Thomas and Christopher Thomas of Orangeburg, SC; Nicole Aiken of Charlotte, NC; Shannon Behling and Brittany Middleton of Columbia, SC; three brothers, Thomas Behling of Bronx, NY; Charles Behling of Padgetts, SC; and Roger Behling of Hackensack, NJ; two sisters, , Linell (Jerry) Lolly and Diane Behling of Padgetts, SC; sister-in-law Mary Behling of Williams, SC; special friends, Paul King of Smoaks, SC; Dora Amaker of Columbia, SC; and Tawana Glover of Woodford, SC; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Special thanks to Dr. Michael Hill of Orangeburg, SC. He went above and beyond to meet all her needs and make her comfortable in her last days on this earth.
To her baby sister, Diane Behling... You just don’t know how much I appreciate and love you for all that you have done for us. You are the most selfless person, always putting the needs of others before yourself.
