Cherishing the life of Sue W. Fishburne affectionately known to many as Mother, Sue or Aunty The daughter of the late Simon and Virginia White born on May 23,1928 in Colleton County. She departed this life on Wednesday at Trident Hospital at 12:15 pm. Sue Fishburne was the youngest sister of 5 siblings who preceded her in death Richardean Stanfield, Ella Collington, Abrama Green, Nathan White and Evelyna H. Gieger.
At an early age she became a member of the St. John Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Youmans and most recently Pastor P. Polite. She served as a member of the gospel choir. Mother Sue was the eldest member of the church and was named the mother of the church at 95 years old, until her health began to decline.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late Charles Fishburne, Sr. in March of 1951 and to this union six children were born, four whom preceded her in death, Philis, Teddy, Thelma and Blue. Mother Sue was an amazing woman that could still do normal duties and task at her age.
To cherish her loving memories are two daughters, Juanita Fishburne of the home, and Gloria Jerido of Bridgehampton, NY, One son Harold (Sylvia) Fishburne of Washington, DC, One adopted son Oliver Pierce, Jr., Grandchildren Devesus Fishburne, Daveon Varner, & Deshona Brewer of the home, Theodore (Ashia) Broughton of Moncks Corner, SC, Stanley Collington of Landover, MD, Dennis Ford and Annette F. Morgan of New York, NY, Sterling (Sqeeda) Hicks of Columbia, SC, Mike (ReRe) Johnson and Varlie Wright of Washington, DC, Allen Johnson of
Kentucky, And Lisa Willingham of New Jersey, two nephews Albert (Rachel) Hugie, Richard (Robin) Stanfield, Special Nieces, Mrs. Virginia Green, Mrs. Thelma Hugie, Mr. & Mrs. James Gilbert, Mr. & Mrs. Elijah McTeer, one daughter-in-law Bridgette Singleton, one brother-in-law Mr. Linwood Williams, one sister-in-law Mrs. Millie Brown, Like a sister, Mrs. Maggie Magwood of Greenpond preceded her in death. She also leaves a host of cousins, friends and other relatives.
