Ms. Sonya Marie Green, daughter of Ms. Kathy Green and the late Mr. Robbie Middleton; was born January 4, 1962, in Colleton County. She received her formal education in the local public school system. As she completed her education, she then entered the workforce. For several years, Sonya was employed in housekeeping.
As Sonya was avid in her faith, she became a member of the Saints Center Ministries of Walterboro, South Carolina, under the leadership of Bishop-Elect Phillip Taylor, Sr. During her time there, she served as an usher, greeting each person with love and trash talking. Sonya was a person who loved life, she enjoyed not only spending time with her family, but she loved going fishing.
On Sunday, November 14, 2021, while at the Colleton Medical Center, Sonya departed this earthly life. As she leaves this side of eternity, her portraits of her life will forever be a candle of memories to all who knew and loved her. Preceding her in death along with her father: one sister, Rosa Burrell: grandmother, Katherine Green-Cleveland, grandfather, Eli Green: great-grandmother, Fannie Middleton: and one aunt that raised her as a daughter, Bessie Blackwell.
Left to cherish her memories are her mother, Kathy Green of Philadelphia, PA; two daughters, Sophia Lewis and Rockia Lewis both of Walterboro, South Carolina: Grandchildren Tyler, Nyla and Thai’ije Lewis, Jaleel Murray and DaVion Lewis, all of Walterboro, South Carolina. Special grandson reared in the home, Jordan Williams: six sisters, Henrietta Farmer of Wilmington, NJ; Margaret Pollard of McDade, TX; Denise Robinson of Ft. Worth, TX; Rosalind Robinson of Philadelphia, PA; Victoria Robinson of Los Angeles, CA and Nell Robinson of North Charleston, SC: Special friend, Janice Reed of Walterboro, SC; along with a host of numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
