Mrs. Malinda Diane Berry, daughter of the late James Franklin & Helen Blue Haynes; was born August 30, 1955, in Colleton County. Educated in the public schools, she graduated from Walterboro High School in 1973. Upon completing her education, she began her employment with Dayco Products of Walterboro, South Carolina. During her time there, she became a visual inspector and worked faithfully for over forty years until her retirement.
Malinda believed that God was the author of her faith. At an early age she became a member of the St. John Holiness Church, of the Hendersonville Community of Walterboro, South Carolina. Later in life, she moved her membership to the Elizabeth Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ also of Walterboro, South Carolina. She remained faithful in her duties to the church and serving the people of God, until her health began to decline.
In 1974, Malinda married the love of her life, George Berry. This union would be blessed with one son, Gerard, and forty-two years of love and companionship until his passing in 2016. Affectionately called, “Diane” by all who knew and loved her; Diane possessed a humble spirit. Living life to the fullest, her favorite past times included spending time with her family and socializing with her friends.
On Tuesday: October 26, 2021, Diane departed this earthly life. Though she has left from this side, the essence of her life will forever be a warm embrace to those who now mourn her passing. Along with her parents, and husband: she is also preceded in death by: brothers, Irvin Haynes and MaHarris Haynes: and one sister, Shirley Wright.
Left to cherish her memories are: one loving son, Gerard Berry of the home: brothers, William Haynes of Summerville, South Carolina, Donnie (Diane) Haynes, of Yemassee, South Carolina and Alvin Haynes of Walterboro, South Carolina: one sister, Brenda Haynes Rogers of Summerville, South Carolina: special friends like a sisters, LaDon (Ernest) Rivers, Vivian Brown and Gloria (Edward) Gant, all of Walterboro, South Carolina god-daughter, Chantel “Candy” (Jeraldo) Brown: one aunt, Frances Forbes: along with a host of numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
As service arrangements have been updated, the family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the many expressions of love and sympathy that has been and continue to be shown to them during this difficult time. As we gather in celebratory services, please note that a facial covering will be required prior to entering all facilities during visitation and services.
