Mrs. Jean Brown Obituary

The Essence of Her Life

Mrs. Jean Doctor-Brown, daughter of the late Haygood Doctor and Eva Sattlefield-Doctor, was born in Colleton County on August 16, 1944. She entered into eternal rest on July 13, 2020 at the home of her twin sister, while being surrounded by her family and loved ones. She received her early education in the public schools of Colleton County, graduating from Colleton High School in 1964. After graduating, she moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. While there, she met and married her late husband, Mr. Ralph Brown. She worked as a cook at Jordan Marsh for many years. After the death of her husband, she returned back home. She was employed with: Smoaks Manufacturing Co., Colleton County School District as a bus driver, and the Colleton County Summer Feeding Program; until her retirement in 2015.

At an early age, Jean joined Cypress Creek Christian Church, where she served faithfully as a member of the gospel choir. Jean was a hard-working, fun-loving person. To know her was to love her. She was known especially for her famous, “perlo rice”. Preceding her in death along with her parents and beloved husband are: three brothers, Curtis Fields, Monroe Doctor, Sr. and Joseph Doctor; and one sister, Annie Ruth Doctor-Mack. Left to embrace the essence of her life are: twin sister and caretaker, Jeanette Wright: sisters; Lillie R. Gant (Isaiah), Mildred Yates and Josephine Boatwright all of Walterboro, South Carolina: brothers, Edward Doctor (Gloria) of Pompano Beach, Fla., Isaac Doctor of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Jacob and James Doctor both of Walterboro, SC: sister in laws, Rosetta Doctor and Ruby Doctor-Cooper: god daughter, Unique Taylor: three special nieces who cared for her until the end, Katrina (Terry) Bell, Bridget and Senetra Bell: along with a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

On behalf of the entire Brown family, we humbly ask that you continue to lift them in prayer as they lay their loved one to rest.
