Essie Lee Mason Windom, the sixth of eight wonderful children born to the late Horace and Annie B. Mason; was born on January 24, 1936, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. On Friday January 6, 2023, Essie fell asleep in death, at the age of 86.
Essie was employed with the Colleton County School District as a food service provider. She would remain faithful in her service for twenty-four years until her retirement. She attended Saints Center Ministries, and in a study of the bible she learned that God has a name which is Jehovah (Psalm 83:18) and his son is Jesus Christ (John 3:16) who was her personal savior.
Preceding her in death along with her parents are husband, George Windom; siblings, Edna Mae Smalls, Aggie C. Trone, Horace Mason, Jeff Mason, Arthur Mason, and Leroy (Petro) Mason.
Essie leaves to cherish her loving memories, seven children; Brenda (Johnny) Jones, Magnolia (Clyde) Dobison, Annie Vanhorn, Rufus Vanhorn, Rubynell (George) Dobison, DonEarl Vanhorn, and Edward Earl Vanhorn; three stepchildren, Michael Windom, Marvin Windom, and Sandra Windom-Martin; one sister, Margie Darien; best friend, Annie Mae Bennett, along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
