Carolyn Smith passed away peacefully on February 23, 2021 at the age of 79.
Carolyn was born to Willie and Francis (nee Rice) Fails on May 16, 1942 in Cincinnati, OH. She was the
middle of three children. She is survived by one brother, James Fails (wife: Patricia) and their family.
Carolyn became a Jehovah’s witness in 1961. In 1962, she met her husband, Sam Elias Smith, Jr (born
January 4, 1940), and they moved to Rochester, NY. They had no children. In 1997, they moved to
Walterboro, SC, where Carolyn lived out her days.
Although she worked for many years in the healthcare profession as a visiting nurse and home health
aide, her true passion and calling was in service to Jehovah. Her service included tutoring, mentoring,
and teaching the Truth.
Carolyn was a loving and generous soul who never met a stranger. She always had a message about the
joys of God’s kingdom for all whom she encountered. She will remain deeply in the hearts of her family,
congregation, neighbors, and friends.
Matthew 6:9-10
"Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. Let your kingdom come, let your will take place,"
as in heaven, also on earth.
