Mrs. Azalee Green Obituary

Mother Azalee Green, the eldest of three siblings; was born on May 7, 1934, to the late Abraham Moore and Lulla Mae Singleton in the Ritter community of Walterboro, SC. She was educated in the Colleton County School System.  Upon completing her education, Azalee relocated to New York, where she would begin her new walk of life.  She became employed as a Nurse’s Aide at the Patterson Home of Long Island, New York and served faithfully until her retirement in 1989.  Relocating back home, she continued as an aide and did private sitting, touching the lives of all her clients.

A woman of true faith, Mother Azalee became of member of the Loyal Baptist Church of Bronx, New York.  After her return to her native home of the Ritter community; She became a member of the St. Paul CME Church.  During her tenure of service, Mother Green served in many capacities:    Mass Choir President & Treasurer; Missionary Society Member; Chairperson of The Kitchen Committee; and Founder of the "Heaven and Hell Program".  She was also a former member of the Order of Eastern Stars.

In 1961, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Ruben Lawrence Green and this union would be blessed with nine children. Her service did not stop at the church but was never ending for her family. She helped raise several of her grandchildren, as you would see her faithfully taking one to work, school, picking up from practices, or taking them to and from events.  To know “Lee” was to know a true jewel and queen.  She was known to frequently visit food banks and deliver to church members, family, and friends. Most of all, her family was her pride and joy.

On Tuesday: January 10, 2023, our dear mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, traded her time on this earth, for an eternity with her Heavenly Father.  Along with her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by:  son, Daniel Ray Foster, grandson Tyrone Rhifio Colleton, great granddaughter Amber Brown, great-great grandson Tai'Rhey Brown: sister Bertha Black, brother Henry Moore, two brothers-in-law Vonlee Green and Rufus Green, and a sister-in-law Betty Freeman,
