Mr. William Green Obituary

Mr. William Daniel Green, Sr., son of the late James, Sr. and Emily Murray Green; was born December 9, 1941, in Colleton County.  Growing up in the midst of his family and community, he was educated through the local public schools.  At a youthful age, he sought the Divinity of God; he therefore became a baptized believer and united in Christian fellowship with the Mount Nebo Baptist Church of Yemassee, SC; under the leadership of the late Rev. Mannie C. Chisolm. As time progressed, William became employed with the Wildwood Nursery of Walterboro, South Carolina. He would remain a faithful employee until his retirement.

On September 13, 1967, William became united in Holy Matrimony with the love of his life, Doretha Manigo. This union would be blessed with seven wonderful children and over fifty-four years of a shared love and devotion to one another.   Affectionately known to all as,” Dan”, he never met a stranger and was well known and respected throughout his family and community.  A devoted husband, loving father, high-spirited grandfather and a trusted brother uncle and friend; Dan’s presence and knowledge of life remains unmatched.

During the evening hours of Sunday: October 24, 2021; God in His infinite wisdom, spoke, “Servant of God well Done,” and our dear Dan, traded time for eternity.  As his departure may leave a void, his legacy will forever live on and be a comfort to all who cherish him. Along with his parents, he is also preceded in death by three brothers, James, Jr., Oscar and Charles Green: sister, Orene Brown and brother in laws, Henry Brown, Henry Jinks and Ralph Mitchell.
