Life Portrait 

Mr. Thomas Maceo Bennett, affectionately known as “ Mr. T” was born the oldest son to the late Marion Maceo and Gertrude Anderson Bennett on March 23,1931 in Columbia, SC. He received his education in the Colleton County School System and Allen University in Columbia, SC. In 1949 , he enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Medic, where he received a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.


Thomas lived in New York for many years , still working in the medical field. While there, he met his wife Mrs. Jeanette Bennett. Thomas was a kind man who had a smile for everyone he came in contact with. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, laughing, and telling stories. When he could no longer care for himself , Thomas went to Summerville, SC with his sister Brenda and her husband Chalmers.

He is preceded in death by his wife Jeanette; sisters, Fitzgerald, Dorothy, Myrtle, and Annie Mae; and brothers, Raymond, Leon, and Gregory.


Left to cherish his memories are his sister, Brenda B. Duncan ( Chalmers) , three sister in law’s, Mary Ellen Bennett of Walterboro, SC; Esther Bennett of Brooklyn , NY; and Beverly Bennett of Summerville,SC; along with a host of niece , nephews and friends.
