The Legacy of Life
Mr. Theodore (Teddy) Ivan Nesbitt Jr, son of the late Theodore Nesbitt Sr. and Corine Nesbitt, was born on September 19, 1959, in Cottageville, South Carolina. He was the eldest of five children. At an early age, Teddy was baptized and became a member of Canaan Baptist Church in Round O, SC. He attended High School in Walterboro, South Carolina and drove a school bus during his junior and senior years. Upon graduation, he joined the Air Force Reserve where he served as a Jet Engine Mechanic for four years. Then, he went on to attend Denmark Technical College where he majored in Mechanical and Electrical studies. After graduation, he worked for South Carolina Electric & Gas, in Operations, for 30+ years. During his working tenure, Teddy also worked as an electrician assisting his family and community with electrical needs.
Teddy was a member of the Class of 1977 Alumni where he served for several years building lifelong friendships and comradery. As a young man, he spent a lot of time on the water, fishing, and shrimping. He was a devoted son, father, brother, and friend; and it was evident that his family was everything. Nothing gave him more pleasure than having his home filled with loved ones.
On Tuesday, September 27, 2022, while at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital, Charleston, South Carolina; Teddy departed from this earthly life. Left to cherish his memories: sons: Theodore I. Nesbitt III, and James (Jodie) Bradley Anderson; one daughter, LaVonda Brown: sisters; Connie (Charles) Hawkins, Evelyn (Lee) Ferguson, and Marlo (Alvin) Mayshack: brother, Rodney (Mariana) Nesbitt. grandchildren: Ashlyn, Ryleigh, SynClaire, Pear, Lillie-Rose, and Ember: two special honorary mothers, Mary North, and Doris Nesbitt: along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
