Mr. Simon Stanfield, son of the late, Ms. Richardean Stanfield & Mr. William Gibbs; was born March 9, 1944, in Charleston, South Carolina. Simon was educated in the local public school system. During his lifetime he had various jobs but was an all-around helper to whomever he could.
At an early age, Simon accepted the Lord as his Savior. He became a baptized member of Joshua A.M.E. Church of Green Pond. During his tenure, he was a faithful member and served his church tirelessly. His commitment of service and supplying the needs of the church and overseeing different projects within the ministry, were parts of who he was. His duties within the ministry included: Head Steward, Finance committee, Superintendent/teacher of the church school, Lay President, Trustee, Acting Class leader and Adopt-A-Highway. He was anintricate part of overseeing that the renovations for the kitchen entrance, replacing the faucets in the restrooms and so much more within the church. Even up until him being admitted into the hospital; Simon sacrificed his time, finances and even personal things towards the upkeep and building of Joshua and the spreading of God’s Word and Love.
During the morning hours of Saturday: August 27, 2022; Simon quietly departed from the cares of this realm to join his heavenly Father in eternity. Preceding him in death along with his parents is one son, Anthony Gibbs: and two brothers, Michael,and Clarence Stanfield.
Left to cherish his memories are: wife, Gloria Gibbs: two sons, Terence (Yollanda) Williams and Shea Williams; daughter-in-law, Vanessa Gibbs ; two granddaughters, Tiara Williams and Talyn Williams; one great-grandson, Myles Gardner; one devoted aunt, Sue Fishburne; special caretaker, Thelma Hugie: along with a host of other relatives, caring friends and a loving church family.
