Mr. Sam Smith, Jr., son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Sam & Elizabeth Hamilton Smith, Sr.; was born April 4, 1954, as the seventh of nine children. Sam received his formal education in the public schools of Charleston County. As Sam entered adulthood, Sam began working as a carpenter and painter. As time would pass by, Sam continued in his work and sought to master the craft of carpentry. After developing the wisdom and knowledge, Sam ventured on his own and began his own company, Sam Smith Construction Company. During his time in business, Sam made sure to help his community and family. He trained and hired people with the hope that one day they would master the craft, as he did.
Sam was known for his heart for people and was truly a free-spirited person. Not only was he constantly looking for ways to give back to his family, community, and friends. He was especially protective over his family and would give his last for them. Far from perfect, yet a true firecracker that could explode at any given time; He never sought to be perfect but understood his purpose and strived every day to live according to the Word of God.
During the afternoon hours of December 25, 2022; God dispatched for His beloved son, and Sam traded his time on earth for eternity. Preceding him in death along with his parents are; three brothers, Solomon, Richard and Herman Smith: one sister, Mary Ann Wright; and sister-in-law, Francenia Smith. Left on this side to cherish the reflections of his wonderful life are his beloved siblings; Albert Smith of Charleston, SC, Sarah Geddis of Bronx, NY, and Lorander Smith of Charleston, SC; along with a host of numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
We encourage you to share in a word of sympathy or expression of love, all which will console this bereaved family, as they prepare for the final celebration services.
