Mr. Robert Lee Francis, son of the late Ned & Essell (Ethel) Williams Francis; was born June 15, 1946, in the Roadside Community of Yemassee, South Carolina. As he grew up in his birth home, at an early age, he was baptized and became a member of Mount Nebo Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Mannie C. Chisolm.
Robert received his formal education in the public school system of Colleton County. After receiving his education, he entered the workforce. He had a genuine passion for driving trucks, and going where life took him, he moved to Patterson, New Jersey and drove various companies. For several years, after returning South, he became employed with C & E Trucking Company.
Wanting to explore life, even more, Robert relocated to New York. As time would pass, Robert met the love of his life, Ruth Murray. The two spent time together and eventually on July 6, 1968, they would be joined in Holy Matrimony. As they began to embark upon life, they continued in Patterson, New Jersey, until returning to Roadside.
Affectionately known to all as, “Baker”, he was a hard worker. Aside from truck driving, he also possessed skills and was a self-employed lawn care provider. If there was a need, there was “Baker”. He was a jack of all trades. Baker was a person who lived life happily and carefree. His favorite pastimes also include fishing, cooking, and traveling. His most recent dream was to one day purchase and own R. V.
