On Saturday: November 28, 2020, Mr. Robert Brothers, changed time for eternity and bid this earthly realm, farewell. Mr. Brothers, 69, of Cottageville, South Carolina, was a beloved father, grandfather, brother and more to those whom loved him dearly. Robert “Doney” Brothers was born on October 1, 1951 in Cottageville, South Carolina to the late Ivey Brothers and Bessie Adams Brothers. Robert attended Colleton High School in Walterboro, South Carolina and proudly served in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged from the military, Robert spent many years in Germany enjoying the culture, returning to the Unites States, settling in New York City. He worked numerous construction jobs, finally settled in a career he took great pride in as a cross-country truck driver.
Robert loved to read and enjoyed socializing with family and friends whenever he saw them. He never met a stranger and loved starting conversations with people getting to know others. He had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Searcy; one brother, William “Bo” Brothers; and one sister, Owillander Lester.
He leaves to cherish his many fond memories, one daughter, Andrea “Bo” (Hanreck) Chambers of Brooklyn, New York; one sister, Marie Coaxum of Cottageville, SC; one brother, Ivory “Buck” Brothers of Cottageville, SC; one grandson, Grant Singleton of Brooklyn, New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
