Mr. Oliver Mixon, Jr., born May 22, 1945, in Jacksonboro, South Carolina; was the son of the late Oliver, Sr. and Sadie Bell Mixon. Educated in the public schools, Oliver graduated from Colleton High School in 1962. Shortly after completion he decided to sacrifice for his country and enlisted in the United States Army. He served faithfully and dedicated over twenty years of service until his retirement. Not long after, Oliver became employed with the United States Postal Service. While here he served as a mail carrier throughout Charleston County, until his retirement. Oliver was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Doris Purdue in 1980. Living a life of laughter and fun, family was everything to him.
Affectionately known as “Jr.” “The Mailman”, and even “Prez”; he was loved and respected by his community and family. He was an avid lover of football and a DIE HARD, “Dallas Cowboys” fan. On Wednesday: December 8, 2021, while at the PruittHealth of Walterboro, South Carolina; Oliver departed this earthly life. Preceding him in death along with his parents and loving wife are sister, Elaine Simmons: brother, Willie Mixon: and a brother-in-law, Daniel Daniels.
He leaves to cherish his memories: special friend, Irene Johnson: three sisters; Annie Laura (Richard) Cox of Goodyear, AZ, Esther Daniels of Walterboro, SC and Roslyn (Thomas) Bowen of Walterboro, SC,: two brothers; Harry Lee (Theresa) Mixon of Miami, FL and Robert (Sylvia) Mixon of Walterboro, SC: sister in-laws; Betty Perdue of Rock Hill SC, Annette (Perry) Knoble, Sr. of Augusta, Ga.: brother in-laws; Leotis Perdue of Decatur Ga., Ronnie Perdue of Augusta, Ga. and Harris Simmons, Sr. of Charleston SC; one loving aunt, Aretha Baxter: along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
