Mr. Louis Douglas Bright, son of Douglas and the late Sarah Mae James Bright; was born on one beautiful Saturday, January 11, 1958. He was educated in the Colleton County schools and graduated from Walterboro High School in 1975. From there he joined the United States Navy as a submarine chef in 1976. After leaving the Navy, Louis started using his God given talent remodeling houses in and outside of Colleton County. His work also included remodeling bathrooms, kitchens, garages, basements, and ceramic tile installation in the Maryland/DC Metropolitan area. Lately he was a caregiver for his brother, Freddie.
Louis was joined in matrimony to the late Cheryl Lynn Bright on October 11, 1997, and shared many years until her passing in 2014. To know him, you know he never met a stranger. He was very joyful and had a thunderous, hearty, infectious laugh. He was a very giving person, always accompanied by his best friend “Toot” his dog and lately a long line of cats.
During the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 17, 2022, Louis quietly departed from this earthen home to gain his eternal rest.
Left to cherish his memories are; a son, Kendrick Douglas (Xarese) and daughter, Shauna Nikiya Wilson; his father, Douglas L. Bright; two sisters, Deborah Bright-Ratchford (Pete) and Teresa Barrett (Bruce); two brothers, Frederick Leon and Chester Bright (Linda); eight grandchildren, Zion A., Zaire D., Zavion, Zaedyn, Kaedyn J., Wynesha, Desiree and Markia; special friends David Rhames; Kathy Bowers; Patricia Bryant; Leatha Pettaway and James Bowman; along with a host of numerous neices, nephews, other relatives and friends.
