In the early hours of Saturday, November 7, 2020, Mr. Jerry Nathaniel Broughton bid this world farewell in Columbus, Ohio surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Broughton resided in Killeen, Texas. He was not only a loving father; but a loving brother, uncle, friend and much more to all who knew and loved him.
At the request of the family there will be no public visitation.
The Celebration of Life will take place on Friday : November 13, 2020 @ Twelve Noon at the Indian Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church ; located at 14265 Lowcountry Highway Ruffin, South Carolina.
**Facial masks and social distancing practices will be strictly enforced during the church and graveside services. **

Mr. Jerry Nathaniel Broughton was born on August 14, 1957 in Walterboro, South Carolina. He was the second child born to the late Mr. Shadie A.Broughton and Pearl N. Jamison Broughton. Jerry spent his childhood in the rural area of Ruffin, SC (Indian Creek Community). His education began in Colleton County schools. He furthered his education and graduated from Claflin College in Orangeburg, South Carolina where he received his Bachelors’ degree in Early Childhood Education and was a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
He continued his education in the state of Texas receiving his Master’s Degree in Education. After years of being an educator, he attained the necessary certifications allowing him to be employed and retire as Principal with a total of 30 years of service in the field of education and administration in the school system located in Killeen, Texas.
He was a member of Christian House of Prayer (CHOP) located in Killeen, Texas under the leadership of Pastor Nathan Hockum.
Along with his parents, one brother, Timothy Broughton, preceded him in death.
Jerry leaves to cherish his memories four sons, LTC (US Army) Demetrick (Valerie) Thomas of Camp Zama, Japan, Jerry Nathaniel Broughton II of Austin, Texas; twins Jerred and Jarrod Broughton and one step-son, William Barba of Ohio; three granddaughters, De’scha, Queen and Naomi and one grandson, Demetrick II ; two sisters, Lucy Pearline Williams of Goose Creek, SC, Cinderetha Broughton of North Carolina; a niece raised as a sister, Acquanette Smith of Walterboro, SC; one brother, Kenneth (Luwanda)Broughton of Ruffin, SC; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special heartfelt thanks goes to Mary Loudermilk of Killeen, Texas and Linda Barba of Reynoldsburg, Ohio who provide their time as his caregivers over the last year.
