Mr. James Ferguson, son of the late, Relius Ferguson and Florence Williams Ferguson, was born May 08, 1928, in the Roadside community of Yemassee, South Carolina. After receiving his formal education of the local public-school system; James entered the workforce. He spent a vast number of years being employed in the logging industry. He began as a tree cutter and thrower and then became a heavy equipment operator. A man of faith, James joined the Mount Nebo Baptist Church and remained an active faithful member, until his heath began to decline.
On November 29, 1957, James was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late, Corine Green Ferguson. This union would be blessed with eighteen wonderful children and years of love and marital bliss until her passing.

James was a quiet and humbled man. He loved attending church and even more so enjoying his family. He had a love for all of his grandchildren and raised four of his grandsons in the home as his own sons, Kevin, Desmond, Devin and Deon, who preceded him in death. His other hobbies included: painting, planting his garden and riding his lawnmower all across the place. On Sunday: April 25, 2021, after a prosperous age of ninety-two years old; James traded time for eternity. He is preceded in death by nine children: three grandchildren: four great grandchildren: four brothers, John, Samuel, Lee and Benny Ferguson: and two sisters, Carrie Bell Colleton and Rosa Lee Ferguson.

His legacy will forever be cherished by, his loving children: five sons, Sammy (Shirley) Ferguson, Donald (Tina) Ferguson and Willie Ferguson all of Walterboro, South Carolina; Sebastian (Renee) Ferguson Alexander, Louisiana; and Keith (Erica) Ferguson, Charlotte, North Carolina: four daughters, Frankie (Mark) Riley, Barbara (Morris) Green and Amanda Ferguson (Alex) all of Walterboro, South Carolina and Mary Ferguson (Wallace Williams), Yemassee, South Carolina: sisters, Thelma (Leroy) Jones, Manhattan, New York and Emma Ross, Virginia: brother-in-law, Paul Drayton of California: three sisters-in-law, Viola Ferguson and Rose Huggins, both of Yemassee, South Carolina, and Shirley Ross of Gainsville, Florida: twenty nine grandchildren; sixty great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren: special friend John Williams; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
