Mr. James Coaxum, Sr., 72, was a resident of the Ritter Community if Walterboro, South Carolina. Affectionately known to all as "Smoky"; James transitioned into his immortal slumber on Thursday: March 26, 2020 in Walterboro, South Carolina.
James Coaxum Sr. was born September 23, 1947 to the late Susanna G. Gethers and the late Cephrus Smith James was preceded in death by 3 sisters, and 2 brothers. He was known by his nickname “Smokey”.
James got his trade of carpentry from his Late Uncle Frank Gethers Sr. He taught him how to read blueprint and many more things. James work many people after that like Silas White , Teddy Reed, John Deloach, Raleigh Williams and Modwlar home Building before Retiring. James love his work and he knew what he was doing.
His hobbies were playing baseball, and his favorite team was New York Yankees. He love to go and see the Ritter net play baseball on the weekend. Someone would always come by and pick him up.
He leaves to cherished his memories one daughter Lanell Yvette Johnson (Larry)of Walterboro, one son James Coaxum Jr (Susan) of Columbia SC, a sister that he loved so much Dorethen Colleton of the home. 4 other sisters Retha Frasier of Ritter, Elizabeth Coopum of New York, Sarah Tucker of New York and Mary Singleton of New York one brother David Smith (Janet) of Ritter, SC. 6 grand children and one great grand. numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. One niece he loved very much and always called her to come and get him, Loreta Williams and his nephew Leman E Colleton for a ride to come home. Thank you because you made him very happy and he loved you both very much.
