Mr. Herman Pinckney was born on May 24, 1925 to Estellar Pinckney. He lived in the home with his grandmother, Hagar Pinckney, whom he dearly loved. He had several siblings who preceded him in death: Roosevelt Pinckney, Dan Kinsey, Gladys Frasier, Virginia Jenkins and Annie Mae Middleton. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of Aimwell Presbyterian Church. He was a humble, gentle soul who was a genuine believer in Christ. During his career, he traveled up and down the East coast, working in
construction, on the railroad, as well as at the Savannah River Plant (Dupont). He was also a jack of all trades, from working on automobiles to home improvements.
He loved playing the guitar and was a member of the Fairfield Gospel Group. The group included the following individuals: Herman Pinckney (Tenor), Ernest Simmons (Lead singer),
Joe Chaplin (Manager/Baritone), Ben McNeil (Lead/Baritone) and LeRogers Manigo (Lead/Bass). Several of his favorite past-times were fishing, taking long rides with family, and
spending time with his family.
In September 1945, he was united in holy matrimony to Everlue Manigo, who preceded him in death on April 16, 2007. To this union, seven children were born. His memories will always be cherished by his seven children; Herman Lee Pinckney (Theresa) of Neyles, SC; Lou H. Breshers of Summerville, SC; Eddie Pinckney of Neyles, SC; Richard Leon Pinckney of Walterboro, SC; Suzanne Gant of Walterboro, SC; Sandra P. Brown (Teddy) of Summerville, SC; Terry Pinckney (Connie) of Atlanta, GA. He also has a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great- great grandchildren. He is survived by his only sister-in-law, Rachel Kinsey of Walterboro; Special nieces Rosemary Sweat and Cornelia Davis both of Walterboro, SC; Other special persons include Terry Gant of Walterboro, SC; Mary Manigault of Walterboro, SC; Susie McNeil of Walterboro, SC; Owillinda Gethers of Hollywood,SC; A host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Public visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 from 4pm-7pm at the mortuary. Graveside services will conclude on December 10th at 11am at Aimwell Presbyterian Church Cemetery. (Facial Mask and social distancing practices will be enforced during the visitation and graveside services).
