Mr. Henry Lee Murray, son of the late Mr. John Lee Murray & Mrs. Victoria R. Murray, was born on July 3rd, 1948, in the Ritter community of Walterboro, South Carolina. He departed this life on Saturday May 13, 2023, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, SC. He received his formal education in the public schools of Colleton County. Henry was employed by Dayco Products for thirteen years, before transferring to Walterboro Veneer Plant. He would remain actively employed with Walterboro Veneer Plant for numerous years, until his retirement at the age of sixty-two.
A man who was avid in his faith, Henry Lee became a member of the Cumberland UM Church at an early age. He was a very active member and played a big part in the Sunday School Department.
He that findeth a wife, findeth a good thing and Henry was joined in holy matrimony in 1975 to Ms. Ida Stephens. This union would be blessed with four children and over forty-eight years of marriage and love. To know Henry Lee was to love him. As a youth he would often play tricks or pranks on his brothers and sisters. A devoted husband, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and so much more: he was everything to everyone who knew him. He wouldn’t have much to say, but he would leave an impact that you would always remember him by. Along with his family, Henry Lee loved gardening, going fishing, building different things, and painting.
Preceding him in death along with his beloved parents, is one son, Eric Murray: One brother, John Lewis; three sisters-in law and four brothers-in law.
Left to embrace the seventy-four years of his legacy are: his loving wife, Mrs. Ida Murray of the home: two daughters: Marilyn (Lord) Coker and Henrietta (Stannard) Duncombe, both of Altanta, GA: one son Daric (Ashley) Murray of Colorado Springs, Colorado: five sisters: Pearl Williams of Yemassee, S.C., Ellaree Murray and Regina Mitchell, both of Walterboro, SC, Mary (Calvin) Johnson, of Pinewood, S.C. and Martha Whitlock of Walterboro, SC: three brothers; James (Annette) Murray, Edward (Vivian) Murray both of Columbia, S.C., and Randolph Murray of Walterboro, SC: three sisters-in-law; Annette (Dennis) Bodison, Evangelist Teresa (Adam) Stephens and Mary Stephens, all of Walterboro, S.C.: granddaughter raised in the home, Shambria Murray: eight loving grandchildren: a very close friend for over fifty plus years, Mr. Ernest Brooks Dent of Green Pond, S.C.: along with a host of numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
