With heavy  hearts we announce the peaceful transition of Mr. Erno Alphonso Holmes, 73, who was a resident of Banning , California. His legacy will forever be cherished in the hearts of those whom loved and knew him.

As the final care has been entrusted to the professional care of Koger's Mortuary Service;  A walk-thru visitation will be held on on Friday: April 9, 2021. 1:00-6:00P.M. In the Legacy Chapel of Koger’s Mortuary.  Graveside services will conclude on Saturday: April 10, 2021 Ten O' Clock in the morning : Burr Hill Cemetery. Cottageville  South Carolina. 

(In an effort to reduce the spread of Covid-19 and protect the health of the public, a facial mask will be required during the visitation and graveside service.)

As this family prepares to bid there farewells to their loved one, we ask that you would keep them lifted in prayers, comfort, and support.

 

 

Life Portrait 

Mr. Erno Alphonso “Al” Holmes was born on August 21, 1947 in Charleston, SC to the late Harris, Sr. and Ernestine Holmes. After graduating from high school in 1966, he wanted to be part of something bigger than himself, he went on and joined the United States Air Force serving two tours in Vietnam. A veteran, a solider, brave, and loyal that defended our rights as Americans. Erno served Twenty-Five years of Honorable service until his retirement on July 31, 1991.


In 1966, he met and married the love of his life, Ms. Doris J.J Moore. They would embark on a journey of marriage and devotion for over Fifty years. In 1992, they moved to Banning, California. While here, Erno’s continued enthusiasm to provide a service for the military, he ventures into a career in retail for Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES). In 2013, completing Twenty years of devoted and faithful service, Erno retired from AAFES. Erno spent the remaining years enjoying his family and the California Sun until his passing.
On Monday, March 29, 2021, Erno, 73, while in the comfort of his son’s home with his Daughter-in-Law and Grandson surrounding his bedside; After a difficult battle with lung cancer, God the Creator called him home to be at rest. Though he has left this side, we will cherish his memories within our hearts.


Preceding him on death are his parents, Harris, Sr. and Ernestine Holmes; lovely wife, Doris J.J. Holmes; brother, Harris “Jay“ Holmes, Jr.


Those left to cherish his memories are his faithful son, Fernandzo F.F. Holmes, devoted Daughter-in-Law, Carlotta A. Holmes, and one loving grandson, Alonzo, all of Midlothian, Texas; loving sister, Alma A. Simmons of Douglasville, Georgia; sister-in-law, Audrey G. Holmes of Cottageville, South Carolina, Linda Ferrell, Emily Collins, Rita Collins, and Dorothy Collins, all of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; brother-in-law’s, Johnny A. Moore of Selma, Alabama, Anthony Collins and Daniel Collins, both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; a special cousin, Mrs. Patricia Summers of Cottageville, South Carolina; along with a host of numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, other relatives and many caring friends.
