Mr. Eddie Lee Johnson

In profound sadness we announce the earthly transition of Eddie Lee Johnson, 88, of Walterboro, South Carolina. A loving husband, father and so much more; his loving memories will be cherished in the hearts of those who knew him. Eddie Lee departed this earthly life on Friday, November 10, 2023 surrounded by loving family and friends. Mr. Eddie Lee Johnson was born on August 9, 1935, in Round-O, South Carolina to the late Edd and Lena Johnson. He departed this life on Friday, November 10, 2023, at the Colleton Medical Center, Walterboro, South Carolina.

He was educated in the public schools of Colleton County. Eddie was joined in Holy Matrimony to Doris Doctor Johnson on February 9, 1988. This union was blessed with one son and two stepsons.

He was employed at Asten Hill and later retired with Walterboro Feed and Garden Supply. Eddie was a former member of Mt. Zion AME Church in Round-O, South Carolina. Then he later joined Cypress Creek Christian Church, Walterboro, South Carolina.

Eddie was a kind, sweet, loving man, who love to make people laugh. Eddie enjoyed riding others to different places, being with family, fishing, working in the yard and talking on the phone. Eddie was a friend to many people; whom he impacted throughout his life, especially his “Coffee Drinking Buddies.”

He is preceded in death by three sisters, Mena J. Williams, Minnie Mae Johnson and Leatrice Johnson; two brothers, Capers Johnson and Eckerd Johnson and three children, Eddie Charles Johnson, Carolyn Youngblood and Janice Mitchell.

Eddie leaves to cherish his loving memory: his wife, Doris Johnson; three sons, Aaron (Lacreshia) Johnson of Goose Creek, South Carolina, William and Fred Fleming of Walterboro, South Carolina; two daughters, Robin (James) Coulter of Summerville, South Carolina and Mary (Johnny) Washington of Charleston, South Carolina; sister, Analiza (Nathan) Jones of Ridgeland, South Carolina; brother, Furman Johnson of Walterboro, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Sandra Johnson of Charleston, South Carolina, 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren, special friends, Deacon Jessie Miller and Bro. Sharp, other relatives and friends.
