Mr. Clarence Whiting Obituary

Mr.  Clarence Edwin Whiting began his life September 2, 1931; and was the son of the late Mr. Charles S. and Alberta I. Whiting. Clarence received his elementary and high school education in the public schools of Newport News, Virginia.  Upon completing his education, Clarence enlisted with the U.S. Army; and served for a short time, until his honorable discharge in 1952.  Afterwards, he would become employed as a book binder.

Clarence resided in Brooklyn, New York. During his time there, Clarence began his walk of faith with the Catholic Church of Brooklyn, NY.  It would be in his transition back to South Carolina, that he would continue in his faith and join the Cumberland United Methodist Church of Walterboro and God is Moving Ministry of Johns Island.  As a member of “God Is Moving”, Clarence often attended their Virtual Ministry and became adopted as the “Father of Virtual Church.” One thing was evident, and that is that Clarence really loved the Lord.  Some of his other organizations and affiliations were: Diploma of Royal Arch Masons The General Grand Chapter; Mason 33rd degree; and a member of the Nostrand Lodge No. 5 of Brooklyn, NY

After spending almost forty years in New York, Clarence came back to spend his, “Golden Years” with his sister and family.  He was a very humble man to all his friends and family. During his illness, he had several care givers to assist him, and guess what, “He even asked them to marry him!” He loved his family, we loved him. His legacy will always live in our hearts, and we do understand, that God loved him best.

During the afternoon hours of Wednesday: March 22, 2023; our dear brother, uncle and friend; departed from the earthly shores of time, as he entered into his immortal slumber.  Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife Amanda; brother, Charles; sister, Willie Mae and nephew, Carl C.
