Mrs. Margaret Stewart was born in Walterboro, SC on November 5, 1927, to the late Tom and Janie Kennedy. She attended the public schools of Colleton County and graduated from Colleton Training School. She was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late William A. Stewart in 1952. To this union, they shared one son, Jimmy Stewart Sr., who also preceded her in death. She was not only a homemaker, but she was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother.
Maggie, as she was affectionately known, was soft spoken, gentle, and loving. At an early age, she professed her faith and joined New Life United Methodist Church (formerly known as Wesley UMC). She was also a devoted and active member and served on the Usher Board for many years. Though we thought of her as “ours,” we realized that she actually, belonged to God. In His goodness, mercy, and love, He decided to reclaim that which He loaned to us. On Monday, March 7, 2022, our cherished loved one, grandmother, aunt and friend, decided to take her rest.
Also preceding her in death along with her parents, husband, and son, is one grandson, Troy Stewart, and numerous siblings. The legacy of her life will continue to be cherished by: two grandchildren, Jimmy Alexander “J.J.” Stewart, Jr. and Erin Rebecca Stewart: two sisters Katherine Richardson and Helen Prioleau (Silas): along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
