Mother Lou R. Brown departed this life on August 17, 2021, in Beaufort, SC, at the home of her daughter and caretaker, Betty Jean. Born November 7, 1936, to the late Christina Brown Taylor and Richard Brisbane, in the White Hall community of Yemassee, SC: she was educated in the public schools of Colleton County. A housewife for several years, she held many domestic jobs throughout her lifetime and even worked within her community.
Mother Lou Brown was a woman of faith. She was an active member of the Zion AME Church. She served as a missionary as well as the president of the Usher Board faithfully, until her illness prevented her from performing her duties. Mother Brown was united in Holy Matrimony to the late, Benjamin Brown, Jr. and this union was blessed with years of love until his passing. She is also preceded in death by: two sons, Royal Lee Brown and Benjamin Brown, Jr., one brother, Henry Taylor and sister, Gladys Williams.
Left to cherish the joyous moments of her life are: five sons, Mark Brown, Walterboro, SC, Pastor John Brown, Sr. Vernon Brown, and Herbie Brown (Diane) all of Philadelphia, PA and Roger Brown (Faye) of Beaufort, SC: daughters, Betty Jean Morgan (Elder Willie Frank), Beaufort, SC and Betsy Brown of Yemassee, SC: two grandsons reared in the home, John Brown, Jr. Columbia, SC and Ayonn Kadeem Morgan, Pooler, GA: nineteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, seven great great-grandchildren: special niece, Betty Ann Williams, Baltimore, MD: sister in law, Lillie Mae Vannoy of Beaufort, SC: two special nephews, John Taylor (Veronica, Boston, MA and Alphonso McNeil (Margaret) Yemassee, SC: three special cousins, John Henry Evans, Lucille Wright and Harry Simmons: along with a host of numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
