"Who can find a virtuous woman, for her price is far above rubies." Proverbs 31: 10. A scripture fitting for a queen that has now transitioned to receive her earthly crown; we honor the life of Mother Josie Rhodes Ford. Josie Rhodes was born on June 6, 1939 to Mr. Joseph Elijah Rhodes and Mrs. Olivia Manigo Rhodes of Neyles, S. C. She received her education at Neyles Elementary School and Colleton High School, Walterboro, South Carolina. After graduation, Josie was one of the first to go to Long Island, New York, where she worked as an Au Pair.
Josie joined Aimwell Presbyterian Church (USA) at an early age. She served as a Deacon and an Elder, and was a very devoted member, always willing to help others.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Lefus Ford on November 3, 1962. From this union, Four Children were born: Lefus Michael, Marshelle, Vincent, and Angela Genise. Josie was a very devoted and loving Wife & Mother. She was a Homemaker while her children were younger. She worked in the Planned Parenthood Program. Later, she was employed with the Colleton County Food Nutrition Program.
She is preceded in death by: (Parents) Joseph & Olivia M. Rhodes; (Husband) Lefus Ford; (Son) Lefus Michael Ford; (Brothers) Bobby Rhodes, Silas Rhodes, and Roy Rhodes; (Sisters)
