Mother Jannie B. Gant

Jannie Bell Glover Gant was born on April 20, 1931, to the late Sinclair and Victoria Glover. She was one of nine children. On the morning of August 9, 2024, God sent an angel for Jannie to begin eternal rest in her heavenly home.

Jannie joined Bethel AME Church at an early age. She retired as a dietician from Colleton Regional Hospital.  Upon retirement, Jannie devoted a lot of her time enjoying her favorite pastime, fishing. She was a great cook and was especially known for her potato salad.

Jannie married the late Ben Gant and to this union seven children were born, two of which preceded here in death, Ernestine Gant and Sharon Gant Blocker.

She was preceded in death by all her siblings, including her twin sister Carrie Bell, one grandson, Charlie Blocker, Jr, and one great grandson Duvonte Vester Blocker.

Jannie leaves to cherish her sweet memories: three daughters, Hazel Mixon (James), of Ruffin, South Carolina, Deloris Smalls (Samuel), of Johns Island, South Carolina, and Verdell Gant of the home; two sons, Bennie Gant and Anthony Gant, both of Jacksonboro, South Carolina; loving grandchildren, Sylvester, Bennie (BC), Shawn, Bayete, Terry, Tony, and Deangelo; 15 great grands, eight great-great grands; a loving son-in-law Charlie Blocker, Sr; five adopted children Teresa Gilliard, Margaret Washington, Lynette Green, Sanquanetti Blocker and Miriam Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
