Mother Georgia Mae (Daniels) Way

Mrs. Georgia Mae Way, the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Katie Salley Daniels, Sr.; was born October 5, 1946, in Colleton County. On Wednesday, May 31, 2023, while at Pruitt Health of Walterboro, South Carolina, our dear Mrs. Georgia Mae, slipped from the shores of time to join her Lord and Savior.   Georgia was educated in the public schools of Colleton County where she attended Ruffin High School.  

 At an early age, she joined Springtown United Methodist Church and accepted God as her personal Savior. Mrs. Georgia was an active member of Springtown Young Adult and Mass Choirs; she was Director and Advisor of the Sunbeam Choir; Secretary of the Usher Board; Vice President of the Community Center; Trustee Member; Member of United Methodist Women; she ran the Community Summer Feeding Program, and she was a devoted supporter of Springtown United Methodist Church faithfully, with her prayers, gifts, presence, and talents; until her health began to decline 

Mrs. Way was employed with Smoaks Manufacturing Company for over thirty years and the South Carolina Department of Vocational Rehabilitation for seven years. She later became employed by the Colleton County School District as a Bus Driver, where she would finally retire after many years of service. 

Mrs. Way was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mr. R. Randolph Way, Sr. and this union would be blessed with forty-six years of love and their wonderful children, until his passing.  A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and much more: Mother Way was the pillar of her family. She lived her life ensuring that all her family and those connected to her were blessed.  The legacy that she has left will forever be cherished by all of whom she has imparted into.  

Preceding her in death along with her parents and loving husband are: granddaughter, Alexanderia Elaine Way: brother, Nathaniel Daniels, Jr.: five brothers-in-law- Wilford, Peter Jr., Carmichael and James Way, and Haskell Salley: three sisters-in-law; Evelyn and Jessie Way and Rutha Mae Salley: and one nephew, Willis Dobison.

 She leaves to cherish her memory seven children: Rev. Kathy (Wayne) Shider, Sr., Ralph R. (Jennifer) Way, Jr., Rev. Pattie (Micheal) Gordon all of Walterboro, SC, Michael Way of Carrollton, Texas, Stevie Way of Richmond Hill, GA, Stacey (Rev. Lisa) Way of Walterboro, SC and Jason (Tiffany) Way of Islandton, SC; three sisters, Dorothy (Lester) Generette, Annie Mae (Willie) Dobisonand Ernestine Daniels; four sisters-n-law, Janie Daniels, Marie (Thomas) Govan, Lee Way and Francis (Heyward) Bennett; two special caregivers Alice Burton and Helene Kirkland, twenty-eight grandchildren, thirty-four great grands along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special thanks to the administration and staff of Pruitt Health of Walterboro, Pruitt Hospice, son-in-law, Wayne Shider, Sr. and her granddaughters, Shandell Way,and Jen’nyah Britt, for their unwavering care and concern for our dear mother.
