Mother Faye Elaine (Wilkey) Walters

June 9, 1946 ~ July 13, 2023 (age 77) 77 Years Old

Obituary

" And God shall wipe away all tears from theri eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away. And he sat upon the throne and said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful."  Revelations 21: 4-5

During the evening hours of Thursday: July 13, 2023; after seventy-seven years of life and being faithful in the service of God; our matriarch departed from the shores of this eternal home, to be with Her Lord and Saviour.  Mother Faye Elaine Wilkey Walters, daughter of the late Irene and Herbert Wilkey, Sr., entered this world on June 9, 1946, in the Hendersonville Community of Yemassee, South Carolina.  As a youth she received her early education in the public schools of Colleton County.

Growing up in Hendersonville, Faye and Alton always knew each other. Well, on June 29, 1963, right out of school, the two became one. As they were joined in Holy Matrimony, the story of Alton and Faye began.  They were blessed with five wonderful children.  They relocated to Boston, Mass., where she became gainfully employed with Mass General for several years.  As time progressed, the family returned to the native home of Hendersonville, to continue raising their family. She then became employed with the former Dayco Corporation and would remain until her health would not allow her to.

Mother Walters was evidently a woman of faith in God.  She became a member of the St. John Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, where she received the gift of the Holy Ghost. In years to follow, she served as the Local Missionary President and Local Women’s Council President, along with other positions.  She served diligently in all capacities of the church and was faithful until her health began to decline.

A cherished mother, grandmother, sister and more to her family, community, friends and church members; her smile, her love, and her giving spirit, were all true characteristics of God within her.  The legacy she has left, will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

Along with her parents, she is also preceded in death by: loving husband, Deacon Alton Walters: one daughter, Angela: three sons, Daniel, Patrick and Christopher: along with six brothers and two sisters.

Left on this side to embrace the essence of her memories are: one daughter, Lavern (Frankie) Fryar: granddaughter reared in the home, Brittney (Cory) Johnson: daughter in law, Stephanie Walters: sister, Celestine (Elder Bobby) Bazzell: brother, Harvey Williams: four sisters in law, Susan Ann Wilkey, Edith (Isaac) Goodwin, Edna Wilkey and Ruth Wilkey: ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren: four special sisters, Mary Louise Edwards, Barbara Edwards, Hannah Gethers, and Karen Lisbon-Washington: along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
